Questions to Ask Before Moving

How Long Before My Move Should I Book a Move?

By Rob Rimeris

This is a common question we often receive, and it’s an important one to consider when planning your move. The answer to this question depends largely on how flexible your move date is and the logistics involved in the moving process.

Every moving company, including ours, has limitations when it comes to the number of moves they can handle on any given day. We have a finite amount of manpower and truck space, which means there’s a limit to the number of moves we can accommodate.

The further in advance you book your move from your desired move date, the higher the chances of securing the availability you want. However, it’s important to note that our moving schedule can change daily, and it may even fluctuate throughout the day.

As a general rule of thumb, approximately 80% of our moves are booked within the two weeks leading up to the move date. So, if you’re planning your move more than two weeks in advance, you’ll likely have a wider range of dates to choose from, or at least the potential for more availability.

When you start looking at a month or more in advance, you often have the flexibility to pick almost any date that suits your needs. However, it’s worth noting that the size of your move can also impact availability. Larger moves require more resources and are harder for us to fit into our calendar, while smaller moves may have a better chance of being accommodated even on shorter notice.

In summary, it’s a good idea to give us a call and inquire about our schedule, regardless of your move date. Our availability can change daily, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs based on the resources and manpower we have available. Planning ahead can certainly provide more options, but we understand that sometimes last-minute moves are necessary, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
